단어탐정(이하 “앱”)은 영어 단어를 직접 쓰거나 카메라로 책을 비추면 뜻과 예문을 보여 주는 초등학생용 영어 사전 앱입니다. 회원가입이 없고, 개발자는 서버를 운영하지 않으며, 여러분이 찾은 단어나 기록을 볼 수 없습니다.
1. 개발자가 수집하는 정보
없습니다. 개발자는 이름, 이메일, 전화번호, 기기 식별자, 위치, 사용 기록 등 어떤 정보도 수집하지 않습니다. 앱에는 광고, 분석, 추적 도구나 외부 SDK가 들어 있지 않습니다. 문의 메일을 보내시면 이메일 주소와 문의 내용은 답변에만 사용합니다.
2. 기기 안에만 저장되는 것
- 최근에 찾은 단어, 내 단어장에 담은 단어와 카드 게임 학습 기록(별), 설정(뜻 언어, 읽어주기, 카메라 배율)은 기기 안의 앱 저장 공간에만 저장됩니다.
- 이 정보는 기기 밖으로 보내지 않으며, iCloud 동기화도 하지 않습니다.
3. 접근 권한
- 카메라: “카메라로 찾기” 화면에서만 사용합니다. 화면 속 글자는 기기 안의 Apple 글자 인식(Vision)으로 읽으며, 카메라 화면은 저장하거나 전송하지 않습니다.
- 사진: “사진에서 찾기”에서 iOS 사진 선택 화면으로 고른 사진 한 장만 가져와 기기 안에서 글자를 읽습니다. 사진 보관함 전체에 접근하지 않으며 사진을 저장하거나 전송하지 않습니다.
4. 기기 안의 기능
- 사전 데이터는 앱 안에 들어 있어 인터넷 없이 동작합니다.
- 읽어주기는 기기에 내장된 Apple 음성으로 재생합니다.
- 사전에 없는 단어의 자동 번역(iOS 18 이상)은 기기 안의 Apple 번역 기능을 사용합니다. 번역 언어 팩을 내려받을 때는 iOS가 Apple에서 언어 팩을 받으며, 이 과정은 Apple의 개인정보 처리방침을 따릅니다.
5. 보관과 삭제
앱 설정에서 “최근에 찾은 단어 지우기”, “단어장 비우기”로 기록을 지울 수 있습니다. 앱을 삭제하면 기기 안의 모든 앱 데이터가 함께 삭제됩니다.
6. 아동의 개인정보
앱은 초등학생이 쓰도록 만들었으며, 아동을 포함한 누구의 개인정보도 수집하지 않습니다. 앱 안에는 광고, 결제, 외부 웹사이트로 가는 링크가 없습니다.

자주 묻는 질문
- 카메라로 글자가 흐릿해요. 휴대폰을 책에서 조금 멀리 떼거나, 화면 아래 배율 단추(1×, 2×)를 바꿔 보세요. 화면을 누르면 그 자리에 초점을 맞춥니다. 일부 기종은 아주 가까이 대면 “접사 모드”로 바뀝니다.
- 사전에 없는 단어라고 나와요. 글자가 맞는지 확인해 주세요. iOS 18 이상에서는 기기 번역으로 뜻을 보여 줄 수 있으며, 처음 한 번 번역 언어를 내려받아야 합니다.
- 내 단어장으로 카드 게임을 하고 싶어요. 단어 화면에서 ☆를 눌러 단어를 4개 이상 담으면 시작할 수 있습니다.
- 소리가 나지 않아요. 기기 음량을 올려 주세요. 설정에서 “천천히 읽어주기”를 켤 수 있습니다.

Privacy Policy

Word Detective (“the app”) is an English dictionary app for elementary school children: type a word or point the camera at a book to see its meaning and example sentences. There is no account, the developer runs no servers, and the developer cannot see the words you look up or anything you save.
1. Information the developer collects
None. The developer does not collect your name, email, phone number, device identifiers, location, or usage data. The app contains no advertising, analytics, tracking tools, or third-party SDKs. If you email us, your address and message are used only to reply.
2. What stays on your device
Recently searched words, words saved to your word notebook and flashcard progress, and settings are stored only in the app’s storage on your device. They are never sent off the device and are not synced to iCloud.
3. Permissions
- Camera: used only on the “Find with camera” screen. Text is recognized on your device with Apple’s Vision framework; camera frames are never saved or transmitted.
- Photos: in “Find in a photo”, only the single photo you pick in the iOS photo picker is read on your device. The app does not access your photo library and does not save or send photos.
4. On-device features
The dictionary is bundled with the app and works offline. Read-aloud uses Apple’s built-in voices. Automatic translation of unknown words (iOS 18 or later) uses Apple’s on-device Translation; downloading a language pack is handled by iOS under Apple’s privacy policy.
5. Retention and deletion
You can clear recent words and the word notebook in the app’s Settings. Deleting the app deletes all of its data from your device.
6. Children’s privacy
The app is made for children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. It has no ads, purchases, or links to external websites.

Support
- The camera text looks blurry. Move the phone a little farther from the page or switch the zoom buttons (1×, 2×) at the bottom. Tap the screen to focus there. On some iPhones, holding very close switches to “Macro mode”.
- A word is not in the dictionary. Check the spelling. On iOS 18 or later the app can show an on-device translation after a one-time language download.
- Flashcards with my own words. Tap ☆ on a word to save it; once you have 4 or more words you can play.
